About us
Reconnecting people with the living world, one wildlife encounter at a time
The Origin Rewilding Project is a grassroots organisation created to help people rediscover their relationship with nature through meaningful wildlife experiences. We believe that nature connection happens not through luxury retreats or curated escapes, but through real encounters with the wild - tracks in the mud, a bird call at dawn, a tiny fungus on a branch, the quiet patience of watching and noticing.
Origin is built on a simple truth:
we are nature.
And yet, so many of us have forgotten how to see, feel, or understand the world we belong to.
We exist to change that.
Through guided wildlife walks, photography sessions, species identification, fieldcraft, nature journaling, and outdoor experiences, we help people slow down and see the natural world with new eyes. These moments of curiosity and discovery often create far deeper benefits than expected: groundedness, confidence, calm, belonging, perspective.
As John Muir said, “In every walk with nature one receives far more than he seeks.”
Our Mission
To rewild humanity and the planet, by rebuilding our relationship with wildlife and the land.
The Origin Rewilding Project began with a simple idea:
that at our core, we are wired for connection.
Connection with the land.
Connection with nature and wildlife.
Connection with ourselves.
Connection with each other.
Long before modern life, human culture was rooted in relationship with the natural world. We lived with the land, from the land, and alongside one another in close-knit communities. Survival depended on awareness, of seasons, of wildlife, of landscape, of each other.
That connection wasn’t romantic. It was real. It shaped how we moved, how we listened, how we cooperated, and how we understood our place in the world.
As society has progressed, we have gained comfort, safety, technology, and opportunity. But many of us have also experienced a growing sense of disconnection, from nature, from community, and sometimes from ourselves.
Modern life is faster. Louder. More individual. More digital.
We are more connected online than ever, and yet many people feel isolated, overwhelmed, or fragmented.
We believe that part of this wider disconnection stems from our distance from the natural world.
When we lose regular contact with the land and wildlife, we lose more than scenery. We lose rhythm. Perspective. Awareness. A sense of belonging within something larger than ourselves.
The Origin Rewilding Project exists to gently rebuild those connections.
Through meaningful wildlife experiences, we create opportunities for people to slow down, notice, learn, and share time outdoors together. We use wildlife tracking, identification, foraging, storytelling, journaling, traditional outdoor skills, and simple observation as tools to help people reconnect not only with nature, but with themselves and with others.
This is not about turning back the clock.
It is about remembering something fundamental, that we are part of the natural world, not separate from it.
When we reconnect, even in small ways, something shifts.
We regulate better.
We breathe deeper.
We feel more grounded.
We feel more whole.
Our work is about rebuilding that sense of wholeness, one experience at a time.

Meet Pete
Pete is a wildlife conservationist, photographer, and storyteller dedicated to helping people rebuild their relationship with the natural world. He’s spent years observing animals, teaching fieldcraft, documenting wildlife, and exploring wild places around the world. And with that experience he created the Origin Rewilding Project as a way to bring meaningful, immersive nature experiences back into people’s lives.
What drives Pete is simple: the belief that when people deepen their connection to wildlife, everything else changes. Confidence grows. Curiosity returns. Stress eases. A sense of belonging comes back. As he often says, “rewilding isn’t just something you do to landscapes, it’s something you do to yourself.”
Drawing from his background in wildlife conservation, forest school, and slow, observational nature practice, Pete’s courses blend real field skills with a grounding in wellbeing. Through wildlife tracking, species ID, bushcraft, bird watching, habitat restoration, outdoor cooking, journaling, and mindful time outdoors, he helps people rediscover the wildness they’ve been missing.
Pete’s work as a conservationist and explorer, along with his experience documenting wildlife worldwide, has shaped his commitment to doing things the right way: ethically, sustainably, and with deep respect for nature.
The Origin Rewilding Project is his way of sharing what he’s learned, guiding people back to the wild places that shaped him, and helping them become more confident, capable, and connected explorers of the natural world.
